Ron English | Fat Tony the Tiger
Earlier this year the king of guerrilla advertising – Mr Ron English – planted a selection of modified cereal boxes on the shelving of an LA grocery store in an effort to illuminate all passersby on the effects of the high sugar contents in cereal | He created modified mascots for the likes of Trix, Captain Crunch, Lucky Charms and many more (including Tony the Tiger shown above) were all fattened up and accompanied by messages that would certainly deter most shoppers | After much success with his Trix, Ron is planning on continuing to promote this campaign by releasing approximately 500 limited edition Fat Tony the Tiger figures, with more limited (100 pieces) followup editions in the near future | We aren’t exactly sure when this fat lil guy will be available but we are sure that he will be a great reminder to any kid that Frosted Flakes might not be the most ideal choice for breakfast | Further news about the Fat Tony the Tiger figure and his release date will be announced via popaganda.com soon(ish)…
Supreme x Robert Longo
In the latest artist collab, Supreme has got together with painter Robert Longo on a series of three skate decks | Robert Longo is an American painter and sculptor born in Brooklyn, New York in 1953 | Longo developed an early fascination with all forms of mass media, especially movies, television, magazines, and comic books which continue to influence his art | Robert Longo’s works are filled with deep emotions that are both primitive and at the same time self-conscious | Having studied sculpture, Longo uses graphite like clay, molding it to create images with layered, chiseled lines, that are at once photographic and sculpturesque | One of the quintessential artists of the 1980′s, Longo’s “Men in the Cities” series portrays a group of sharply dressed businessmen writhing in contorted agony | The artist has been the subject of major retrospectives and exhibitions all over the world, and is considered one of the most significant living artists of our time | Supreme will release a series of three limited edition skateboard decks designed by Robert Longo online and in-store on April 7th and in Japan on April 9th | http://www.supremenewyork.com/

Tony Hawk Skateboard | Smithsonian NMAH
The Smithsonian National Museum of American History has announced that it will be including a vintage Tony Hawk skateboard in its collection of sports artefacts | The 1986 Powell Peralta Tony Hawk Pro Model deck will be included in the museum’s Sports and Leisure exhibition alongside such iconic sports equipment as Muhammed Ali’s boxing gloves | Says Hawk: “I rode it briefly back then but dismantled it for some unknown reason and kept it through the years. The trucks are original Tracker magnesiums and the Lapper is one of few still in existence. [...] Skaters have always been known to be unique and artistic, so the lifestyle encompasses much more than the physical act. It has influenced art, music and fashion, and helped to redefine sports in our country.” | Hawk recently gave the skateboard a quick go for old time’s sake at the Quiksilver All 80′s All Day Vert Challenge at SurfExpo in Orlando, Florida earlier in this month | Unsurprisingly, he described the 25-year-old set up as “challenging”… | americanhistory.si.edu
